An Acclaimed Artisan

Praveena Mahicha is a veteran in the art of tie-and-dye. A second-generation artisan, she has a 30+ year experience in training students at several premier institutes across India. During this journey, her art has been recognized and rewarded with many awards like the State Handloom and Handicraft award in 2017 and Manu -- The Power of Women (Gold Medal) in 2020.

Ms. Mahicha has achieved the National Merit certificate as a Master Weaver and is a specialist in natural colour dyeing. She has also mastered the traditional art of painting called 'Mata ni Pachhedi' -- multicoloured images of goddesses with a narrative story on a piece of cloth.

What’s more, learn from none other than a master artist who has inherited this traditional art from her ancestors.

1. What resources will I need to bring for this class?
​ The Hive will provide all the material for the workshop. However, don't forget to bring your masks and sanitizers along.

2. What safety precautions will be taken at The Hive?

Our premises are sanitized regularly. We will be working in small groups and social distancing norms will be strictly followed. Masks are compulsory when indoors or within close proximity. However, the participants are responsible for their own health & safety.

Cancellation Policy: In the unlikely event of The Hive cancelling any of its workshops for any reason, registered participants will be refunded the entire amount within 15 business days. Course dropouts by participants will be eligible for refund as follows: 30+ days before the event - 75% refund; 15-30 days before the event: 50% refund; less than 15 days - 0% refund.
