“music is the universal language of mankind.”
- henry wadsworth longfellow
Indeed! The emotions conveyed by music do not need words to add to their meaning.
In Indian culture, music is considered a sadhana, bringing joy to the soul. It takes but a few months to understand its diverse elements, such as rhythm, melody, tonality, timbre, and the like, but a lifetime to master their nuances. Thus, the goal of learning music should never be to achieve milestones, but to enrich the soul. A purely mechanical approach can rob the joy and divinity of an otherwise creative field.
Music at The Hive is designed to be an ongoing journey that each learner – children or adults, including senior citizens – can customize for themself. Engage in vocal and/or instrumental, classical and/or semi-classical, exam-oriented or hobby-centric music – fashion a programme at a pace of your choice. Sketch a bespoke outline for yourself, choosing from the template options below:
-
Hindustani classical music (vocal and/or instrumental), following an exam-oriented curriculum
-
Semi-classical music with devotional songs, Gujarati/Hindi , ghazals, classic Bollywood songs, and the like
-
Instrumental music with/without vocal practice – keyboard, harmonium, flute, tabla, Indian violin
The facilitator Shri Sanjay Shukla has a vast and versatile experience working with children and adults alike, including senior citizens. With his traditional, unhurried, and friendly approach, he makes learning a pleasurable activity.
