Shahezad Gadhiya

Founder & Head Trainer, Satic

Shahezad is a dedicated explorer, passionate about practical learning, and has been conducting ‘exploration workshops’ for over 6 years. After struggling for many years to find his passion – a field in which he could work for his lifetime without getting bored, and while also making a handsome living – Shahezad realized that what he loved most was being a mentor, helping other students explore their interests.

With that one aim, he has launched India's first and only career exploration platform, where students could understand their own strengths and aptitude, build 21st century skills, and grow in their careers even without guidance. Since its launch, more than 50,000 students have joined Satic’s multiple workshops and embarked on their journeys of exploration.

“exploration is curiosity put into action.”

- don walsh

(the first person to descend to the deepest part of the ocean, the Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench, in 1960.

walsh went on to teach ocean engineering, and helped James Cameron reach the same place in 2012.)

Really? Who needs exploration or action when you have Google, ChatGPT, and AI at your disposal?! Aren’t they supposed to have all the answers?

Well, well, sadly, information (which Google etc. give) is not necessarily knowledge (which humans etc. need), which means we still need to engage in some “thinking” and “doing” on our own. The good thing, however, is that active exploration is actually a lot more fun – just as playing in the sand is so much more satisfying than reading a book on sand play. Or just as street cricket is more exciting than screen cricket. You get the point, right?

So yes, we are driving towards hands-on learning. Because experiential learning helps us to actively create knowledge, rather than passively absorb it, thus leading to a deeper understanding of concepts and improved cognition. (Well okay, this was straight from Google, but the fact is, we have an endorsement already.)

So what is Hive +?

Right, let’s get to the crux. As you know, The Hive has been offering a bouquet of hands-on, minds-on activity-oriented programmes. Hive + will go a step further. In collaboration with Satic – The Career Club, it will help young learners explore different fields of study and discover their areas of interest.

By helping learners discover something new everyday, in both the upcoming and traditional domains of study, Hive + aims to vest them with the confidence in making the right career choices later in life. Our exploratory programmes are thus designed to build the four crucial qualities of tomorrow:

1. Career clarity

2. Self-confidence

3. Sustainable responsibility

4. Innovative mindset

The programme format of Hive + will be largely thinking- and activity-oriented, and will incorporate upcoming and traditional domains of study – from robotics & automation to community & sustainability, from electronics & hardware to finance & commerce, from energy & technology to medicine & healthcare, from communication & self-development to architecture & design, and much more.

1. What is the objective of the ' Hive+ with Satic' programmes?

The key objectives of Hive+ programmes are 1) to inculcate an exploratory attitude amongst participants, and 2) to expose them to the myriad emerging career-oriented fields, such that they are able to identify areas of their own interest. Many of the programmes will focus on building essential lifeskills.

2. How often will the ' Hive+ with Satic' programmes be offered?

New programmes under the 'Hive+ with Satic' umbrella will be typically offered every quarter. There will be short-term workshops and longer-running programmes offering a bouquet of exploratory activities from the different fields of study mentioned above.

3. Are the Hive+ programmes 'academic'?

Well, yes and no. The concepts and activities covered as part of our programmes will support and supplement academic learning. The key difference will be a huge thrust on 'hands-on' learning and inclusion of subject areas that may not be catered to by academic curriculums.

4. What age groups will be catered to?
Hive+ will have varied programmes for children from the primary school years to high school years. The depth and areas of activities will be designed as per the age groups.

5. What kind of skills will these programmes build?

Experiential learning is a great way to build 21st century skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, decision-making, etc. that are typically not a part of any academic curriculum. Skills develop through repeat exposure to exploratory activities, as they become a way of thinking and doing.

The best part of these programme is that most learning is 'incidental.' The prime objective is still 'exploration.'

6. Will the material be provided?

Yes, we'll bring the resources required. Just come with your creativity handy. :)

7. What safety precautions will be taken at The Hive?

Our staff and facilitators are fully vaccinated. We will be playing in small groups. Masks are recommended when in close proximity. However, the participants are responsible for their own health & safety.
