deconstruct the elements of style
street photography workshop
‘What makes a compelling photograph?’
The journey of a photograph begins in the mind of a photographer. A camera is only a tool to render the image that is already formed in one’s imagination. To paint a powerful picture with a camera, it is important to recognize the differences between a human eye and a mechanical lens, learn to see what a camera sees, and use the magic of optics in evoking a viewer’s fancy.
However, this isn’t a class on camera nitty-gritties, and your instructor Saumil won’t tell you which F-stop to use. The focus is on exploring photography as an art & design form by deconstructing the elements of style: geometry, composition, contrast, use of light & colour, et al.
During the in-person workshop, Saumil will also take you on an introspective journey to discover the facets that define you, helping you create a distinctive fingerprint through your pictures. Saumil is a seasoned trainer with rich teaching experience in real and virtual environs.
The workshop offers hands-on exercises that can be done at home or outdoors. We also offer you the advantages of the virtual medium by providing access to The Hive's photography programme’s chat channel on Discord.
